Why are only modern European conquests immoral?

Historians and history books rarely take a moral tone when the Muslim (Mughal and Ottoman), Indian, Chinese, Mongol, Persian, Seljuk, Timurad, Roman, and Hun conquests are mentioned. Yet there is usually a venom to be found when discussing modern European conquests. Every history course I have taken ( around 8,passed all with flying colors) painted European conquerors as depraved monsters. Why the double standard?
With the exception of the Crusades, of course.
But even modern European law derives from ancient Roman law.

Well, if you haven't noticed, most Europeans are WHITE. And we all know that rape, pillage, torture, conquest and ethnic cleansing don't count unless they were committed by WHITES. Here's a perfect example: how many stories have you ever seen on tv or in the movies about warfare among the Native Americans BEFORE the first white man set foot on this continent? Not too many, I'm betting. I saw a documentary about a whole tribe in Mexico that were wiped out by a bunch of ruthless invaders - who were also a Native American tribe, of course. Everybody bends over backwards to try to portray early Native Americans as enlightened, peaceful, fun-loving veggie eaters, but the accounts of their treatment of women and children captured in raids do not bear out that scenario. Europeans - and their descendents - have typically been way out in front in weapons technology. We're just good at it. The Chinese had gunpowder for a long time, but they only used it to make fireworks. That's not to say we're not responsible for a lot of past misery, but that double standard you're talking about is very real.
